Big Dog Adhesives successfully introduced its groundbreaking Reload reusable cartridge system at this year’s JEC Composites Show in Paris. The debut generated significant interest, particularly from international attendees seeking more sustainable solutions for structural adhesive applications in the composites industry.
The European and broader non US markets demonstrated strong enthusiasm for Reload’s eco friendly design. Many manufacturers in these regions operate under stricter sustainability mandates and view environmental responsibility as a core driver of long term business strategy. As production scales, the pressure to minimize waste while maintaining high performance becomes increasingly critical. Reload addresses this challenge directly by replacing traditional single use plastic cartridges with a durable, precision engineered reusable housing paired with laminated foil packs containing the adhesive components.
At production scale, the Reload system can reduce cartridge related packaging waste by more than 98 percent, whether measured by weight or volume. This represents not a marginal improvement, but a transformative advancement in sustainable dispensing technology. By dramatically cutting plastic waste while preserving exact 1:1 or 10:1 mix ratios, Reload helps manufacturers lower their environmental footprint without compromising the superior bonding performance expected from Big Dog’s high performance structural adhesives, including methyl methacrylate (MMA) formulations widely used in composites bonding.
The Reload platform is compatible with standard manual and pneumatic dispensers, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows. The reusable outer cartridge maintains consistent flow dynamics and precise ratio control, delivering reliable results across a range of substrates such as metals, plastics, fiberglass, and composites. This combination of sustainability, efficiency, and performance makes Reload particularly well suited for high volume applications in transportation, marine, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing.
